Thermoplastic Rubber Compound

Oceanprene is the trade name of SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) compounds purposely researched by Ocean Group for the Footwear industry. The wide range of compounds studied by our Research Centre can satisfy any specification of the market.
SBS Thermoplastic Rubbers show high elastic properties due to their particular “block" structure where terminal styrenic “domains” alternate intermediate poly-butadiene “domains”, calibrated ration of polystyrene gives Oceanprene high thermoplasticity while polybutadiene gives it high elastic properties.
The commercial success of these particular compounds is connected to their very low cost and easy processability.
It is obvious that in order to obtain manufactured products having the same characteristic of cured rubber, it is not any more necessary to use its long and expensive curing processes. The same results can be obtained by using the simple and economical processes of thermoplastic material (cold mould). Ocean’s particular technology, risen from its Research Centre and its up-dated industrial Plant has increased the Oceanprene market up to the actual leader’s levels.

Applications

Footwear Soles + Fully moulded waterproof shoes. Gum Boots for Industrial and Mining workforce which complete in price with conventional soft PVC + Injection moulded Hawai Slipper and Beach sandles - lighter and cheaper than cured rubber + Insertmoulded Heels, Leather Insert Fashion Shoes with painted leather look, having light weight, better wet grip & cold flex than soft PVC or EVA + Various moulded and extruded components for Luggage, Furniture, Automobile Mats, Mud Flaps, Steering Covers, Mobikes, Scooter & bicycle components, Buses & Trucks Side Cladings & Handle Grips, replacing cured Rubber & PVC + Electrical Cables & Wires with service temperature of 120deg to -60degC
In all the above items the conventional Injection Moulding, Extrusion, Other conversion machines Moulds, and Dies are freely used without any modification. Essentially Oceanprene is a rubber which is processed like normal Thermoplastics.
